History-
The Quiet Quilt (PATENT PENDING) was developed
to meet the sensory needs of our son who is on the autistic spectrum.
He craves deep pressure, and we found that a weighted vest or blanket
helped him relax. We were not happy with the weighted blankets we found
on the market (some were filled with sand or birdseed which posed washing,
odor and durability issues) so my inventor husband urged me to design
my own. After much trial and error, and aided by my mom (a talented
quilter), the Quiet Quilt became a reality. Our son now settles
down happily under his 15 lb. quilt and we all sleep much better.
The
Quiet Quilt Lap Quilt can be used to calm your special needs
child when he/she has to attend to school work, computer time or any
other time when focus is necessary. One parent has said that the lap
quilt is helpful when they go out to dinner, and even at the dentist!
The
Quiet Quilt Mini Quilt (PATENT PENDING)
was suggested by a preschool teacher as a perfect cot sized alternative
to the full quilt. The Mini Quilt can be used for nap time at school,
on road trips or as a light weight alternative to the full quilt.
